Donna Lee Dixie (Smith) Allphin, age 87, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at her home in Morrilton, Arkansas after a brief illness. Dixie was born October 10, 1931 in Wichita, KS. She is survived by her daughter, Shelley Allphin (Ben Dugan) ; a son, Guy M. Allphin II of Perryville, Arkansas; sisters Lova Freeman and Rena Cole of Morrilton; as well as her adopted sisters Larri Littlefield (George) of Ardmore, OK; Dale Trotter of Perryville; two grandsons Ben David Dugan (Gena) of Clovis, NM and Josh Dugan (Mary) of Norman, OK. Dixie also helped raise several other young men - Joe Blass of Santee, CA; Mike Peterson and Ed Harris both of Salina, KS; “adopted” daughter Wendy Wise of Perryville; “adopted” grandkids Kris and Tony Ho of Madison, MS; and many nieces, nephews, and other adopted family members too numerous to count.  She is preceded in death by her parents Ned and Jude Smith of Perryville; her sister Connie Stull of Morrilton; her brother Sam Smith of Perryville; and an adopted brother Pete Briley of Arkansas City, KS.

Dixie was a member of Morrilton Christian Center, though she had been unable to attend in person for some time she always appreciated the visits from the folks from the church. She loved her family and could cook a mean pot of chicken and noodles, pan of brownies, and her son-in-law’s favorite cranberry salad and pecan pie!

Some of Dixie’s early artwork still hangs in the halls at a hospital in Wichita. She had a natural gift for art that she passed down to both her children. Her computer allowed her to stay in touch with distant family and friends and she always got a kick out of her nephew Scott Littlefield’s fantastic stories he concocted involving her and her supposed escapades that the rest of the family would gladly add to and entertain her with.

Memorial will be held at Harmony Baptist Church 3195 Highway 10 E, Perryville, Arkansas 72126 Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with lunch following in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Home Care, 12120 Co. Glenn Rd., Little Rock, AR 72210 or the charity of your choice.
