Phillip Patterson

–

Conway, Arkansas

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Phillip Raymond Patterson, better known as Phil, who departed this life on May 31, 2026. Born in North Little Rock, Arkansas, on August 22, 1953, Phil was an adventurous soul, always on the lookout for new challenges and experiences. He was a dedicated railroader at Union Pacific Railroad, where he navigated the complex world of transportation until his retirement in 2003. His life was a testament to the quote, "The only constant in life is change," as he continually adapted and reinvented himself to provide for his beloved family.

Phil was a man of many passions, but he held a special love for learning. He was particularly intrigued by the mysteries of the Universe, the rich tapestry of history, and the diverse spectrum of religions. Phil was also a survivor of the vibrant 1970s, a time when he reveled in music festivals and embodied the spirit of the era - his favorite saying was from The Rolling Stones, You Can’t Always Get What You Want….But You Get What You Need….”. However, the birth of his daughter, Jennifer, marked a turning point in his life. He softened, becoming not just her father, but her most trusted confidante and best friend. Phil was a perfect balance of tough and gentle, a loving and supportive figure who stood as a pillar of strength for his family.

His family was the guiding light of Phil's life, and he is survived by his cherished daughter, Jennifer Ford, grandson, Trent Sippell and granddaughter Katelynn Ford. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Emarene Patterson and his wife of 50 years, Brenda Hooks Patterson. His love for his family was deep and unwavering, a testament to his character. As Tennyson once wrote, "I am a part of all that I have met," and surely Phil's love and dedication have left an indelible mark on his loved ones.

We invite all who knew and loved Phil to share their memories and upload photos to his memorial page, as we celebrate a life well-lived. Each memory serves as a thread in the tapestry of Phil's life, telling the story of a remarkable man who touched so many lives with his warmth, dedication, and adventurous spirit.
