Mary Johnson

–

Oppelo, Arkansas

Mary Johnson, a loving and compassionate soul, was born on June 23, 1939, in Oppelo, Arkansas. Widowed and retired from a selfless career with Meals on Wheels at the T.C. Vaughn Senior Citizens Center, Mary spent her life in service to her community, always putting the needs of others before her own. Known for her kind and caring personality, Mary's heart was as big as the world, and her capacity to love and care was boundless.

Mary was a devoted mother to her daughters Shirlene Robertson, Kay (Gerald) Hornsey, Sue (Steve) Bradley, and Verna (Brett) Armistead. Her joy was multiplied through her nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, whose lives she touched with her warmth and wisdom. She was preceded in death by her father, Arlie Bingham, her mother, Verna Helton Bingham, son in law Edward Robertson and her loving husband, James Johnson.

As a woman of deep faith, Mary was a dedicated member of the Baptist community. We are comforted by the words of the Apostle Paul in his letter to the Romans 8:38-39: "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at 10:00amCST at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 East Drilling Street, Morrilton, Arkansas, 72110. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 11:00amCST.

In memory of Mary, we invite you to share your stories, photos, and memories on her memorial page. Your contributions will help paint a full picture of Mary's rich life and the many hearts she touched.
