A Life Well Lived: Remembering Lindy Kirkpatrick
A Journey of Faith and Resilience
On Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 7:11 PM, Lindy Kirkpatrick departed this world, surrounded by his beloved wife and children. Guided by the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, his beautiful soul found its destination. For his family, “framily,” and friends, a reunion awaits in the most wonderful place God has prepared for all. Lindy’s faith in his Lord and Savior was steadfast, and he often marveled at the blessings that unfolded in their lives, attributing them to divine intervention with the phrase, “it’s a God thing.” This favored life, Lindy believed, is available to all who accept Jesus. While heaven is the goal, he recognized that the journey itself—blessings and trials alike—was perfectly orchestrated for those who believe, even amid the brokenness of cancer.
Lindy’s battle with illness was marked by perseverance and faith. He triumphed over renal cancer in 2007 following a partial nephrectomy with clear margins. However, during his five-year follow-up CT scan, an accidental scan above the abdomen revealed unusual growths in his lungs. Knowing that the lungs are a common site for renal cancer metastasis, Lindy and his family feared the worst. A second opinion at Cleveland Clinic clarified that the new lesions were the same tissue found on his adrenal gland, which had been removed earlier as a precaution. This led to a new challenge: living with an immune system dysfunction known as hemangiopericytoma, where blood vessels would form tumors and affect various organs.
Throughout this journey, Lindy was blessed with the care of a compassionate physician, Dr. Makhoul, and dedicated nurses Paige and Michelle, along with many other remarkable medical staff at CARTI. On Sunday morning, September 7, new lab results revealed that Lindy was facing his third cancer—Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Knowing his body could not withstand the aggressive treatments required, the family brought Lindy home in the early hours of September 9. Despite the circumstances, Lindy’s final days were filled with divine blessings and perfectly orchestrated moments, transforming a traditionally sorrowful experience into one marked by grace and hope. Lindy’s presence endures, just in a different vessel.
A Man of Character and Compassion
Lindy was an exceptional judge of character, forming lifelong bonds with those he met. His “Tribe” held a special place in his heart, though in later years, he became weary and less vigilant in keeping up with everyone. He was a giver, always ready to offer a hand up rather than a handout, believing that effort was essential to success. If someone was unwilling to put in the effort, Lindy was not the person to turn to. He was loyal, honest, trustworthy, and wise.
Lindy cherished his grandchildren and treasured time spent with them on the lake. He hoped each grandchild would be old enough to remember him, leaving a positive influence for them as they navigated life’s decisions. He valued respect, honesty, assertiveness, effort, and kindness in all aspects of life.
A Legacy of Friendship and Adventure
Lindy achieved great success in his career in the grocery business, forging many long-term friendships and unforgettable memories. He loved duck hunting, not for the bounty but for the camaraderie and memories with his “tribe.” Leisurely years at Greers Ferry Lake and the anticipation of new adventures at his dream home’s fishing lake brought him much joy.
For Lindy, relationships always meant more than material things. In his final days, he found peace and fulfillment, ensuring that those he loved received both meaningful belongings and heartfelt words. He gave his whole heart, leaving nothing unsaid and no regrets, making his farewell truly beautiful and nourishing to the soul.
Family and Remembrance
Lindy is survived by his wife Gayle Kirkpatrick; their faithful four-legged companion Bear; daughter Lindsey and her husband Greg Lowery and their daughters Stella Ryann and Sloane Rae Lowery; his son Mitchell Kirkpatrick and wife Hannah Kirkpatrick and their children Clark and Evelyn; his bonus daughter Katelyn and her wife Whitney Holman and their son Braiden Bailey. He is also survived by his brother David Kirkpatrick and sister Susan Kirkpatrick, as well as special aunts lovingly known as “the sisters” and cousins who were more like brothers. Lindy was preceded in death by his parents, Patricia Ann and Hobart Vance Kirkpatrick, and his brother Gary Wayne Kirkpatrick.
A Celebration of Life
Honoring Lindy’s wishes, there will be no traditional funeral service. Instead, a “Celebration of His Life” will be held. Family and friends are invited to join on November 1st at 1:00 PM for a short service to honor his memory at Secluded SkyView Lake Cottages, 5 Oak Ridge Road, Higden, AR, just off Mill Creek Rd. A casual gathering will follow, featuring a campfire, TV (with the Hogs playing Mississippi State), horseshoe pit, ping pong table, cornhole boards, and pickleball court. For you out-of-towners, this is a rural area. If you suspect you may be up past your bedtime, please search for the many nightly rentals in the area using Mill Creek Rd. in Higden, AR on any site. I know Evolve has a couple very close. Lindy’s “tribe” will come together to remember the man he was and share cherished memories, celebrating a life welcomed home with the words, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
