Doris Barfield

–

Jacksonville, Arkansas

Doris LaVonne Barfield, loving mother, compassionate sister, and generous grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2024, just shy of her 93rd birthday. Born on May 7, 1931, in North Little Rock, Arkansas, Doris spent 92 wonderful years in her beloved Jacksonville, creating a life filled with love, generosity, and kindness. A quote that she embodied and cherished was, "The love of a family is life’s greatest blessing." This sentiment was reflected in the devotion and love she poured into her family, the cornerstone of her life.

Doris Barfield was a woman of many talents and interests. She spent her professional life dedicated to the North Little Rock School District, where she served as a beloved custodian. Her love for her work was evident through her tireless dedication and commitment. In her free time, Doris found immense pleasure in gardening, fishing, and staying on the go, hobbies that brought her joy and peace. Her garden was her sanctuary, a place where she could channel her nurturing spirit and share the beauty she cultivated with those she loved. Doris's passion for travel took her to many beautiful places, but she always found the most comfort and happiness in returning home to her loved ones.

Doris is survived by her devoted children, Angela Phillips and Frank (Kay) Barfield; her cherished grandchildren; Delisha Perez, Angela Benight, Kim Barfield, and Michelle Aaron, her caring siblings; Everet (Virginia) Head, Evelyn Gammel, and Patricia (Garth) Townsend; and her treasured great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Claude Barfield, her parents, Ida and Foye Head; her siblings, Paul Head, Billy Head, Herbert Head, and Kathryn Harmon; and her precious grandchild, D.J. Phillips.

A Red Cup Celebration of Doris's life will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 2:00 PM CDT at Rosewood Cremation & Funeral, located at 438 U.S. 64, Conway, Arkansas, 72032.
