David Lynn Bennett Jr. , or "Lynn" as he loved to be called when he wasn't responding to "Cobra 311" on his CB radio, cracked his final quip on September 7, 2025. Born in Heber Springs, AR, on the 11th of March, 1977, Lynn's life was anything but ordinary. His adventurous spirit was rivaled only by his capacity for humor. He was known to say, "I chose the road less traveled. Now, where the heck am I?" A sentiment that resonated with many who knew him.
A welder by trade, Lynn spent over 35 years crafting metal masterpieces at Virco, a manufacturing firm in Conway, Arkansas. But when he wasn't sparking up the welder, he was sparking joy in the great outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, or just cruising down the backroads. His loyalty and dedication extended beyond his work and hobbies. As a volunteer firefighter and first responder, he was always ready to lend a helping hand. This thoughtful man was a beacon of inspiration to his community. He first started at Center Ridge Fire Department before transferring to Cleveland, where he continued to serve with a heart as warm as the fires he fought.
Lynn's life was filled with laughter and love, but what mattered most to him was his family. The twinkle in his eye when his granddaughter Jovi walked into the room could outshine the brightest welding arc. He is survived by his loving wife Angela, sons: Bryan and wife Abi Bennett, Dalton Bennett (Alex Smith) and Eathan Bennett, grandchildren; Jovi and Wren Bennett, Lynn’s little Roo, mother: Shirley; sister: Melissa (Toney) Hawkins, brother Jamie Bennett, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Lynn was preceded in death by his father, David Sr. As Mark Twain once said, "The secret of getting ahead is getting started," and Lynn was never one to stay still. His life was a testament to the power of action, and his legacy will continue to inspire those he left behind.
Visitation will be held at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 East Drilling Street, Morrilton, Arkansas, on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 10:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:05 am. Lynn will be laid to rest at Reid Cemetery, Cleveland, Arkansas, at 12:30 pm.
In the spirit of Lynn's adventurous and humorous life, we invite you to share your memories and upload photos to the memorial page. As he would say, "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." Let's celebrate David's life by remembering all the joyous moments that he brought into ours.
