Barbara McIntyre

–

Perryville, Arkansas

The family of Barbara (Bobby) Ann Montgomery McIntyre thanks you for honoring her
memory.
Bobby, 85 years old, passed to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 29, 2026. Bobby
was born May 18, 1941 in Perry County, Arkansas where she lived for many years until
the family moved to Little Rock. She married James Martindale, the father of her
children, Beverly Lynn and James (Jimbo). On April 16, 1965, she married Leon/Len
McIntyre, raising Beverly and James together in western Pulaski County.
As a young girl, she worked with her mother, Maudie Montgomery, in her Little Rock
restaurants, the Shangri-La, learning to cook and serve customers. She grew up in the
restaurant business and learned to treat everyone like family.
All her life, whether serving people in restaurants, at church, at home or anywhere,
Bobby loved to serve the home-made style of fresh country cookin’ learned years earlier
from Maudie. She loved feeding and seeing them enjoying her cooking.
In 1989, she opened her own restaurant, Bobby’s Country Cookin’, serving weekday
lunch in Southwest Little Rock. Soon, her personality and delicious food earned
recognition and a loyal following. She was featured on the local Beth Ward television
show for her cooking – a proud moment!
Years later in 1998, nearing retirement, Bobby sold her restaurant that still carries the
Bobby’s Country Cookin’ name under new ownership and now located in West Little
Rock.
Once retired, Bobby aided others in opening their home cookin’ restaurants, including
son-in-law, David Woody, who opened Woody’s Country Diner in East Conway, in 2004.
In 1998, Holly Hayes, Bobby’s niece, opened Holly’s Country Cookin’ in Conway, using
many delicious recipes handed down from Maudie to Bobby.
Bobby worshiped the Lord, enjoying her church family and fellowship. Bobby loved her
family dearly.
Outside of cooking and her family, Bobby was a fun renegade! She rode motorcycles at
a time when it wasn’t a common activity for women. She often recounted the story of
bystanders exclaiming, “That’s a girl!” when they saw her riding her motorcycle in the
early 1960s and beyond. She was tickled to be a fearless, fun, and wild girl at times!

Bobby is survived by her loving children, Beverly Woody (David) of Greenbrier; James
(Rebecca) of Perryville; grandchildren Nathan Woody (Michaela) and Natalie Woody of
Greenbrier; Grace McIntyre of Wilburn; and Jacob McIntyre of Hot Springs; great
grandchildren Nora Vandaveer; Emma Vandaveer; Mia Woody; and Baby Girl Woody
who is arriving soon, of Greenbrier; and many nieces and nephews. All adored her!
She was predeceased by her parents, Odas and Maudie Montgomery; brother, Alton
Montgomery; sisters Jean Voss, Patricia Jones, and Jeri Sherrill; and granddaughter
Miranda Woody.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Harmony Baptist Church or other
charity of choice. A Celebration of Life will be held at Harmony Baptist Church, 3195
Highway 10 E., Perryville, Arkansas at 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026, casual
attire.
