Morrilton, Arkansas
In the golden haze of morning light, with the gentle hum of hummingbirds serving as the day's first symphony, Angie Mae Nichols would often be found sitting on her porch, a steaming cup of coffee in one hand, a cigarette in the other. Angie, a loving, generous, and outspoken woman, was born on March 31, 1950, in the small town of Hector, Arkansas. She lived her whole life embracing the simplicity and beauty of her rural roots, always being the first to remind others that she was a proud country girl. Her life was a testament to the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment," and Angie was indeed a great accomplishment.
Angie held various positions in general labor throughout her life, but her most cherished role was that of a mother and grandmother. For her, family was not just an important thing, it was everything. She found immense joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren, sharing stories, wisdom, and love. Known for her spontaneous laughter and her no-filter honesty, Angie was a beacon of authenticity in a world often too afraid to speak its mind. Her love for soap operas was only second to her adoration for her hummingbirds, those tiny, swift creatures that held a special place in her heart.
Angie is survived by her children, Roy Nichols, Jerry (Elizabeth) Nichols, and Wendy Hayes; her sister, Kathy Fletcher; her grandchildren, Angela Emery, Katelyn Reynolds, Seth Nichols, Joseph Nichols, Derek Reynolds, Tiffany (Wayne) Rye, and Brianna Brandon; her daughter-in-law, Audry Tumbleson; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nola Standridge, her son Lloyd Nichols, and seven siblings. Angie's life was a woven tapestry of love, laughter, and a touch of country charm that will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. A graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday, 23 Sep 2026 at 10:00amCDT at Elmwood Cemetery, 1002 West Church Street, Morrilton, Arkansas, 72110.
We encourage everyone who knew Angie to honor her memory by sharing stories, photos, and moments of joy on her memorial page. Her life was a beautiful journey, and we invite you to celebrate it with us by leaving your own memories of this loving, generous woman who touched so many lives.
