Allene Hamm

–

Morrilton, Arkansas

It is with a warm smile and fond memories that we remember the life of Allene Hamm. Born Katheryn Allene Hillis on March 6, 1941, in the quaint and close-knit community of Peach Orchard, Missouri, Allene was a beacon of light, courage, and inspiration. Always the first to lend a helping hand or a thoughtful word, Allene's heart was as big as her love for crossword puzzles and frequent visits to the Goodwill store. Her spirit was as nurturing as the care she gave to the stray cats in her neighborhood. She was a woman of deep faith, finding strength and solace in her cherished Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully served for 45 years.
Allene's love story was one for the ages. She and her beloved husband, Jim, shared an enchanting 50-year marriage until his passing in July 10, 2009. Their love was a testament to their enduring commitment and the family they raised together.
She is survived by her children, Mike and Kim Hamm of Morrilton, Terry and Lori Hamm of Conway, and Beverly and Patrick McGinnis of Wildwood, MO, 11 grandchildren: Tori Hamm, Josh, Jeremy, Justin, and Jake Hamm, Ace Eaton, Shannon McGinnis, Michael McGinnis, Shawn McGinnis, Taylor Bishop, Braden Reshel, 11 great grandchildren, her sister Alice Bridges and husband Tracy of Kennett, MO, are left to continue her legacy of love.
Her parents, Percy and Nona Hillis, her husband, Jim, her brothers, John, Jack, Doyle, and Kenneth, sisters; Ivy Lee Sledge and Margie Flowers have warmly received Allene on the other side.
In her professional life, Allene was a dedicated employee at Piggly Wiggly, where she brought her unique blend of joy and service to every aisle of the grocery store. But her heart always lay with her family, her biggest joy in life. Her steadfast love of the Lord and her faith were her guiding light, with Psalm 119:105, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path," being a verse she held dear to her heart.

Her life will be celebrated on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 East Drilling Street, Morrilton, Arkansas. Visitation will begin at 12:00pm, followed by the funeral service at 2:00pm.
